Bridge Over Beautiful Killington, Vermont
East Mountain Road Update
just got back following tim and marv climbing on east mountain rd
marv had to abandon for a short while, having cramps, rejoined tim shortly after, on the way back, mostly descents, very fast though, clocking as fast as 67+kph, no pedaling, headwind too
tim finished the climb, with a few stops, just for brief rests - bravo!!

July 24 is Lance Armstrong Day
Sunday July 24 is Lance Armstrong Day. It marks the end of an era. His achievements can never be repeated. Even if a star emerges tomorrow, it will be a long wait to see if they can match Armstrong’s unprecedented tally of Tour victories. But there’s no chance for any future champions to be Lance’s equal.

Vacation Update :-)
So many TV channels in our condo TV, BUT NO OLN. We were not able to watch the last stage (ride to Paris) of the Tour De France. Good, at least, that Lenny's recorded it on their PVR.
WOW!! Unprecedented 7 Tour De France Win!! Congratulations Lance and the Discovery Channel Cycling Team!!
High Speed, Wifi connection NADA too - we're up in the mountains, away from the high tech world :) Thank God I am able to connect via my dial up connection, long distance, in Montreal. That made this post possible.
Dateline - Cedarbrook, Killington, VT
Arrived safely last night. Stopped by Burlington, Vermont on the way here for some exploratory shopping. :-) Stayed with Lenny and Marv's in their condo for the night (ours was only ready this afternoon). Dad, Mom, and Rosie are with us, and they will be staying with Lenny and Marv's. Their condo is a a two bedroom suite with two baths and a full kitchen.
Had a good breakfast this morning. Checked out the brochures and maps given to us by the condo resort management. Needed to pick some groceries, so we headed to Rutland, Vermont, a 25 mile drive, approximately 20 minutes away. On the way we took the East Mountain road to scout out the route we plan to take when we go for our bike ride. We were reminded of the category 3 or 4 climbs :-), in some places a little more.
Found the Walmart store in downtown Rutland- stopped there for a bit. We also found the Price Chopper supermarket where we picked up supplies for this evening's dinner and tomorrow's breakfast. Breakfast- well we just might eat out, try one of the popular breakfast joint here and sample their famous pancakes.
Bike ride- well, we did go for a short ride. With very little warm up, being in a mountain resort area, we encountered our first climb, then a little bit of flat before the next climb :-) Love it!! :-) On the way back I hit a top speed of 63.6 kph.
We'll take the same route tomorrow but hopefully ride a little farther out to see a historic place where the former US president Calvin Coolidge is associated with.
Before dinner, this was around 7 - 7:30pm, we went for a swim at the resorts outdoor heated pool. We had the pool to ourselves, a la Mont St. Anne.
Dinner was served around 9 pm. Had a great dinner - Mom and Dad made adobong manok. With rice and salad, it was better than eating out.
After dinner we watched a Pinoy movie, I believe the title was "Tanging Yaman", with Gloria Romero, Hilda Koronel, Dina Bonnevie, Edu Manzano, etc.
C'est tout for now :)

Savoldelli Successful On A Day Of Change
Savoldelli Successful On A Day Of Change
“The line it is drawn. The curse it is cast. The slow one now will later be fast… for the times they are a changin’”. (Bob Dylan – 1963.)
As the finish line beckoned at the end of the longest stage of the 2005 Tour de France, the slow did become fast. A period of apathy in the peloton was ignited by a long sprint over the final climb and back down to the finish in Revel. Over 20 minutes after the Paolo Savoldelli claimed his first Tour stage win, the peloton was split to pieces because of an attack by Alexandre Vinokourov.
Yesterday the champion of Kazakhstan officially announced that he would be leaving the T-Mobile team at the end of the season. And today he did what he could to prove his worth to prospective employers. He elevated himself from ninth place overall to seventh with a ferocious turn of speed that only nine other riders could match. Amongst this elite posse was the man who appears destined to claim a seventh Tour title as well as Ivan Basso, Mickael Rasmussen, Jan Ullrich, Francisco Mancebo and Levi Leipheimer – the riders ranked second to sixth in the general classification before the 17th stage – along with two more riders from the Discovery Channel team.
The line that is drawn awaits in Paris.
For Armstrong the curse is his commitment to retire even though he’s clearly in peak condition. | The rest of story |

Firefox - Gmail - quick note
Could not access Gmail using Firefox, this morning anyway. I hope it'll change later. Tried the same on the other PCs, same thing.
But, when I tried going to Gmail using Internet Explorer, no problemos.
What's up with that?
