Mild temperature for a bike ride

Bike Ride

It was in the low teens this afternoon, 13C+, calm winds, just perfect, for this time of the year anyway, for an afternoon bike ride.

It felt so good to go for a bike ride. Had stuff to do at church, so rather than drive, I rode my bike to and fro.

Dinner and Movie

We've been collecting those Pasta Tutti Giorni $5.00 certificates that Guzzo Cinema, here at the West Island, have been handing out to its patrons. Tita Nil and I decided to take advantage of their offer and ate our dinner there, before heading out to see the new James Bond flick, Casino Royale.

Later dudes! :)

One Liners

Christian One Liners

Don't let your worries get the best of you; remember, Moses started out as a basket case.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Some people are kind, polite, and sweet-spirited until you try to sit in their pews.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Many folks want to serve God, but only as advisers.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

It is easier to preach ten sermons than it is to live one.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

The good Lord didn't create anything without a purpose, but mosquitoes come close.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

When you get to your wit's end, you'll find God lives there.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

People are funny; they want the front of the bus, the middle of the road, and the back of the church.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Opportunity may knock once, but temptation bangs on your front door forever.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Quit griping about your church; if it was perfect, you couldn't belong.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

If the church wants a better pastor, it only needs to pray for the one it has.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

God Himself does not propose to judge a man until he is dead. So why should you?

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Some minds are like concrete
thoroughly mixed up and permanently set.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Peace starts with a smile.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

I don't know why some people change churches; what difference does it make which one you stay home from?

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

A lot of church members who are singing "Standing on the Promises" are just sitting on the premises.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

We were called to be witnesses, not lawyers or judges.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Be ye fishers of men. You catch them - He'll clean them.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Coincidence is when God chooses to remain anonymous.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Don't put a question mark where God put a period.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Don't wait for 6 strong men to take you to church.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Forbidden fruits create many jams.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

God doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies the called.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

God grades on the cross, not the curve.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

God loves everyone, but probably prefers
"fruits of the spirit" over "religious nuts!"

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

God promises a safe landing, not a calm passage.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

He who angers you, controls you!

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

If God is your Co-pilot - swap seats!

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Prayer:

Don't give God instructions -- just report for duty!

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

The task ahead of us is never a great as the Power behind us.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

The Will of God never takes you to where the Grace of God will not protect you.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

We don't change the message, the message changes us.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

You can tell how big a person
is by what it takes to..........discourage him.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

The best mathematical equation I have ever seen:
1 cross + 3 nails= 4 given.

Windows Updating

I was all set to head back home from church after completing the tasks that needed to be done when the screen flashed the reminder not to turn the computer off while 6 updates get installed.

While waiting for the updates to finish I took these couple of photos using my Nokia phone cam.

I was pleasantly surprised at the result. Imagine if I had the Nokia N95 with the 5 megapixel camera?? :))) Hint, hint, hint :))

An Old Friend Passed Away

Celia Banasig (nee Lozarita)

Cel passed away last Thursday afternoon, November 16.

I have been blessed to have visited with Celia the last couple of weeks before she passed on.

You have left behind three wonderful, loving, and caring children. I witnessed how they lovingly, patiently, cared for and looked after you while you were still here. You are blessed.

You will be missed 'Cel'.

Lunch at Portovino's

This past Friday Sam and I went for a return engagement, lunch, at Portovino's. We both had their Salmon plate. It was "perty good". It was my turn to pay for lunch; cost for lunch for two- $60.00 CAD. Portovino's is highly recommended. You are welcome to bring your own bottle of wine.

What do you see amongst the clouds?

I'm not sure who took this photo. It could have been I or Uncle Pilo. This sunset shot was taken from the banks of Lac St. Louis by Rene Levesque Park in Lachine during one of our late afternoon bike rides.

Examine the cloud formation and let your imagination carry you away.

Happy Family Day!!

Just made it up, sounds good though - "Happy Family Day!!"

Friday Night Out

The quest for some new footwear, two pairs of dress boots 1 (burgundy) and 2 (black) specifically, yielded a good find, I thought, at Aldo Shoes at Fairview Shopping Center- Pointe Claire.

Pleased with the result, after doing some more 'window' shopping at Fairview we decided to head out to Chenoy's, the one nearby, on Boul. St. Jean, for dinner. We haven't had smoked meat sandwich, one of Chenoy's claim to fame, for awhile, it was unanimous.

Tita Nil, Trish, Pam, Allen, and I, guided by my GPS navigation, drove towards our destination. I mentioned my GPS because, although I knew a more direct route, or so I thought, the GPS was taking me through a different route. Ever so curious, I followed the suggested route, which took us on a round about way to get to Chenoy's, but probably in the same amount of time if I had taken the usual route I know.

Pauly boy, you're missing in these photos- I hope you miss our company. Join us next time, won't you?

When Leaders Implode

For those of us involved in their church ministries / leadership, here is an article from Christianity Today regarding:

"Leader's Insight: When Leaders Implode
Ted Haggard, self-destruction, and the consequences we all suffer."

The Prestige

Tita Nil and I have been going to 'Cheapy' Tuesday / Wednesday movies for some time now.

The latest movie we watched was "The Prestige" which we saw this evening at Cinema Guzzo in D.D.O.

Quoting from Guzzo's website:

"It all begins in rapidly changing, turn-of-the-century London. At a time when magicians are idols and celebrities of the highest order, two young magicians set out to carve their own paths to fame. The flashy, sophisticated Robert Angier is a consummate entertainer, while the rough-edged purist Alfred Borden is a creative genius who lacks the panache to showcase his magical ideas. They start out as admiring friends and partners. But when their biggest trick goes terribly awry, they become enemies for life--each intent on outdoing and upending the other. Trick by trick, show by show, their ferocious competition builds until it knows no bounds, even utilizing the fantastical new powers of electricity and the scientific brilliance of radical inventor Nikola Tesla--while the lives of everyone around them hang in the balance."

IMDb site: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0482571/

I'll definitely watched it again on DVD.

Riding in the cold

It was not that cold today and I was able to go for a short but brisk bike ride, 24 km in total, as well as managed to get some work done at the church. Yup, I biked to church in addition to some extra detours.

No, I did not use the goggles; I went with my clear lens cycling glasses.

Have you ridden your bike lately?

Jun-Jun and Karen's Wedding

We're off to Toronto to attend my nephew Jun-Jun's wedding.

We met the soon to be married couple earlier this summer when they visited Ottawa.

Jun-Jun is my first cousin Ligaya's (Olayta-Concepcion) son. Manang Ligaya, as I fondly call her, is few years older than me.
