Fall Riding Season is Upon Us

My x-rays turned out negative; all is well, thank God. What little pain that is left coming from my bruised upper left side, after that unfortunate accident when a roller blader plowed into me, will be gone soon, Lord willing. Doctor says it could take up to 6 weeks.

Anyways, here we are again, change of season, fall is upon us here in Eastern Canada.

Pretty soon this is how we'll look like, with layered clothing, booties, and all that jazz.

Hope the cooler temperature and the intermittent drizzles will not discourage you from riding your bike. Just get suited for the weather, think happy thoughts, and away you go, riding with the wind. What wind?!

Remember to grease your chain and inflate your tires to the right pressure.

What are you waiting for? Posted by Picasa

You want to have a soft ride?

You've got to get a SoftRide bike like this one my buddy from NJ rides. As kids would say: "wickeddddddd!!"

Manny's not done 'pimping his ride', yet. :)

Toys shown:

-IRD carbon bar

* High modulus carbon fiber composite with extremely high fatigue strength
* Taper wall construction
* 580mm length
* 5° bends
* Alloy reinforcements - safe for bar ends
* 140 grams

-Shimano "alevio" rapid fire trigger shifters
-Bontrager earl lock-on grips
-Cateye astrale 8 rear pickup cyclocomputer

The new Cateye Astrale 8 cycle computer is one of the best all-around cycle computers on the market today. In addition to the most common cycle computer functions, the Astrale offers one of the most useful measurements a cyclist can have - cadence. Cadence is the measure of your revolutions per minute - how fast you are pedaling. The Astrale lets everyone from the seasoned racer to the novice rider monitor their cadence, an excellent indicator for proper gear selection.

Impressions - lower position because old bar was riser type. The lighter weight seems to have dropped the center of gravity some and feels more stable. My arm also hurts less so it must be absorbing the shocks as advertised..

Do you know the way to San Jose?

If not, just show us the way to the Old Port.

I'll follow the sun

I'll Follow The Sun

One day you'll look to see I've gone
For tomorrow may rain,
so I'll follow the sun

Some day you'll know I was the one
But tomorrow may rain,
so I'll follow the sun

And now the time has come
and, my love, I must go
And though I lose a friend
In the end you will know, oh

One day you'll find that I have gone
But tomorrow may rain,
so I'll follow the sun
But tomorrow may rain,
so I'll follow the sun

And now the time has come
and, my love, I must go
And though I lose a friend
In the end you will know, oh

One day you'll find that I have gone
But tomorrow may rain,
so I'll follow the sun

Funny, informative email forwards- about sleeping

Importance of Sleep

A man can go two weeks without eating. But if he doesn't rest at all, he can only survive for one week. Sleeping provides us the time to rest our internal organs, eyes and brains. Poor sleep quality can cause internal damage to our internal organs and brains.

Therefore, sleeping is very important to us. If you wish to have a long life and stay healthy, please take note of the advice below.

5 DON'TS when you are sleeping

1-DON'T SLEEP WITH WATCH

Watches can emit a certain level of radioactivity. Though small, but if you wear your watch to bed for a long time, it might have adverse effects on your health.

2-DON'T SLEEP WITH BRA

Scientists in America have discovered those that wear bras for more than 12 hours have a higher risk of getting breast cancer. So go to bed without it.

3-DON'T SLEEP WITH PHONE

Putting the phone beside your bed or anywhere near you is not encouraged. Though some of us will use phones as alarm clocks, but please put the phone as far as possible. Scientists have proved that electrical items including mobile phone and television sets emit magnetic waves when used. These waves can cause disruptions to our nervous system. Therefore if you need to put your mobile phone near you, switch it off first.

4-DON'T SLEEP WITH MAKE UP

People who sleep with make up might have skin problems in the long run. Sleeping with make up will cause the skin to have difficulty in breathing and problem in perspiring. You will also need a much longer time to go into deep sleep.

5- (and for men)DON'T SLEEP WITH OTHERS' WIFE --- You may never wake up again.

The Hollywood Tower Hotel - Tower of Terror

You are entering the Twilight Zone

Someone get Tita Nil please, she would not want to check-in there.

Brave the creepy facade of a once-glorious hotel for a jolt back in time. Board a phantom elevator, shoot up 13 stories and brace yourself for a thrilling plummet... but beware! The experience just got scarier. You rocket back up, only to plummet down yet again. You dare to ride once more, but wait! That's not what happened before. That's right, now the Tower is in control, so it's never the same fear twice!Posted by Picasa

Rainforest Cafe, Orlando Florida, Animal Kingdom

I like their slogan- "a wild place to shop and eat".

And, if I may add, these people pictured here, are just as wild, loves to shop 'til they drop, loves to eat, but are also so so sweet :)- naks naman, rhyming pa :))

Another fine Fall afternoon for a bike ride

The challenge is, the bike path had lots of traffic that includes all kinds, from roller bladers to bicycles, beginners to skilled riders, kids, as well as older folks.

I told Pilo that it will be safer for us to stay on the road (street). I actually did take the street, rather than the bike path, on my way back to the car.

Tame winds, mild temperature, sunny day- just a perfect Fall afternoon bike riding weather. It felt like it was still summer.

Taken near Ile St-Helene, no, we did not go there today, just wanted to feature the biosphere that appears to have been super-imposed by my photo.

The circuit was closed to the general public as there was a triathlon event being held there today. Here's one of the participants in the race. See the dome of the biosphere in the background.

Now, this is what I like to call the after bike ride hairdo.

Take your helmet off after a couple of hours or more of riding and you get your hair styled like this- cool eh?! Posted by Picasa
