Cyclists rule the streets tomorrow in annual Tour de l'Île

Cyclists rule the streets tomorrow in annual Tour de l'Île

The Gazette

Published: 13 hours ago

Tomorrow's Tour de l'Île will cause the usual tieups in street traffic as tens of thousands of cyclists pedal through the east end of Montreal.

However, you can also expect some heavy bike traffic on the métro as cyclists make their way to and from the tour, which begins at 9:15 a.m. at Maisonneuve Park.

In the morning, the Orange line's Montmorency, Henri Bourassa, Côte Vertu and Vendôme stations will allow bicycles to enter, and they can exit at Beaubien. On the Green line, Radisson, Angrignon and de l'Église stations will welcome cyclists, and they must get off at Viau. On the Blue line, cyclists can embark at Snowdon and Outremont and disembark at St. Michel, while on the Yellow line, they can get on at Longueuil and off at Berri-UQÀM.

Bus schedules around the tour route will be altered for the duration of the rally. Consult stm.info for full details.

2008 Tour De L'Ile de Montreal Bib

There's still plenty of time to register- well, a couple of days anyways. ;-))

Felino aka Uncle Pilo has a new add-on to his bike

Tristan's new ride with optional baby supporter for babies 3 to 18 months old. It also has a 5 point seatbelt harness

Tito Lits wants to know - will this be strong enough to hold Tita Nil? or is this just for the
BBQ grill this coming Sunday's Tour De L'Ile of Montreal? ;-)

Tristan's trailer will be pulled by my trusty Micado Marco Polo with hydraulic disc brakes.

Tito Lits has an idea - maybe you can reinforce the frame of the trailer with aircraft aluminum
or titanium so we can take turns pulling each other ;-)), of course,
until Tristan insists to have his trailer back ;-))

For someone who should know better, I got sucked in - my curiosity got the better of me. ;-)

A visit to La Maison Des Cyclistes

Expecting a quiet day today for business because of the U.S. Memorial Day holiday, Nil and I decided to do some errands.

One of them was to register for this coming Sunday's Tour De L'Ile of Montreal / Montreal Bike Fest.

The "La Maison Des Cyclistes" is located on 1251, rue Rachel Est.

The registration fee, tax included, was $29.00 per adult.

I could have registered on line but we'd have to pick up the Tour De L'Ile 2008 official jersey "Bib" at the site come Sunday or from La Maison Des Cyclistes anytime during this week.

after taking care of the Tour De L'Ile de Montreal registration we settled down at the "La Maison Des Cyclistes" coffee shop / restaurant for our lunch

Dinner outside

Many times, when Tita Nil goes to work, and I, either lazy or have been busy during the day, have not prepared something for dinner, we opt to go eat outside.

No matter how you lay it out on the table, eating outside is an expensive proposition in comparison to preparing and cooking your own meal. But, like many people in the real world, many times you just have to accept is as an acceptable expense. ;-)

Jack Astor's - Trish getting creative while waiting for our order, by the way, nice watch Trishy

Jack Astor's - Tita Nil scribbles on her side of the table

Jack Astor's - tired and hungry, but happy to be together ;-) - by the way, I like this watch on me Trish

Jack Astor's - go ahead Trish, dig in

Jack Astor's - let's skip the formality - what were you doing Trish? ;-)
