MONTREAL - Thousands of cyclists on Sunday took part in the annual Tour de l’Île, which followed a 50-kilometre route, and blocked some major streets to vehicles in Montreal.
Cyclists braved a chilly and soggy afternoon to participate in the 26th Tour de l’Île.
Only 20,00 hardy souls showed up for the ride through the city's streets- about 15,000 fewer than had signed up to participate.
The race kicked off on Park Ave. near Mont Royal Ave. about 9:15 a.m. and wrapped up at Jeanne Mance Park in the early evening.
Adam Kinner participated in the event. You can read his on-site posts at montrealgazette.com/blogs/ontwowheels
St. Laurent Blvd. between Highway 40 and Mont Royal Ave. was closed during the race and much of Gouin Blvd. and Hochelaga St., as well as other thoroughfares, were affected.
