MERRY CHRISTMAS - PEACE AND JOY!!

December 23, 2006

A Baby Boy

[Mary] brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths. —Luke 2:7

The full-page advertisement in the newspaper caught my eye immediately. Near the top of the light-blue page was the silhouette of a star. In the center of the page were the words:

It’s a boy.

Luke 2:11 was printed across the bottom of the page: “Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; He is Christ the Lord” (niv).

This simple message—it’s a boy—proclaimed the indescribable gift of a Savior who came to earth as a baby. Why did He do it?

We needed God to send Jesus. Because of our sin, we were separated from a holy God (Rom. 3:23). A perfect Savior and mediator was needed to bring us back together. Only God could restore the relationship.

God wanted to send Jesus. He loved us so much that He gave His Son (John 3:16) so that our relationship could be restored. Jesus was the only One who could meet His demand for a perfect sacrifice—only He was sinless (Heb. 9:11-15). He willingly gave Himself on the cross. God accepted that sacrifice and raised Him from the dead.

Because of our need and His love, God the Father gave us the gift of Jesus the Son. Accept His gift today—it’s free. Anne Cetas

Paul proposes to Lalaine

Under the guise of celebrating Jane's birthday (December 12, Tuesday night), which we did by the way, Paul, right after saying grace before our dinner, added that he also want to give thanks for yet another happy occasion - "will you marry me and become my wife?"

Great News!!

Haven't we all been very busy doing all kinds of stuff these last few days and weeks.

Well, here it is y'all! Great news to share with friends and loved ones!!

Paul proposed to Lalaine this past week, setting up a surprise announcement, in cahoots with Lalaine's parents, Tito Tony and Tita Elvie, Tita Nil, Trish, Pam, and I, and finally Jane, all this under the cover of Lalaine's sister Jane's birthday celebration, this past December 12, Tuesday evening.

Lalaine thought we were there just to join in celebrating with her family and friends, Jane's birthday. Unbeknownst to her, we were also there for another special, happy, joyous, reason.

Perfect cover indeed! :))

Mom and Dad, Ninong and Ninang of Lalaine and Jane (Tito Romy and Tita Pacit) were also present, and together with Lalaine, they did not know about the whole set up.

And, before I almost forgot, yes, Lalaine said yes!! :))

Let me share with you some of the pictures I took and we'll let the photos portray some of the special, happy, "hard to describe" emotions we all were privilege to witness and share with the happy and ecstatic couple, an important milestone in the life of Lalaine and Paul.

AFP News release- full body xray machine

This image courtesy of American Science and Engineering Inc. (ASE) shows a Backscatter x-ray of a man. The new full-body x-ray machine to be tested this month at a US airport has raised concerns about privacy issues with some rights advocates saying the technology amounts to a virtual strip search.(AFP/ASE-HO/File)

Privacy issues indeed!! :)

Mild temperature for a bike ride

Bike Ride

It was in the low teens this afternoon, 13C+, calm winds, just perfect, for this time of the year anyway, for an afternoon bike ride.

It felt so good to go for a bike ride. Had stuff to do at church, so rather than drive, I rode my bike to and fro.

Dinner and Movie

We've been collecting those Pasta Tutti Giorni $5.00 certificates that Guzzo Cinema, here at the West Island, have been handing out to its patrons. Tita Nil and I decided to take advantage of their offer and ate our dinner there, before heading out to see the new James Bond flick, Casino Royale.

Later dudes! :)

One Liners

Christian One Liners

Don't let your worries get the best of you; remember, Moses started out as a basket case.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Some people are kind, polite, and sweet-spirited until you try to sit in their pews.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Many folks want to serve God, but only as advisers.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

It is easier to preach ten sermons than it is to live one.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

The good Lord didn't create anything without a purpose, but mosquitoes come close.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

When you get to your wit's end, you'll find God lives there.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

People are funny; they want the front of the bus, the middle of the road, and the back of the church.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Opportunity may knock once, but temptation bangs on your front door forever.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Quit griping about your church; if it was perfect, you couldn't belong.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

If the church wants a better pastor, it only needs to pray for the one it has.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

God Himself does not propose to judge a man until he is dead. So why should you?

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Some minds are like concrete
thoroughly mixed up and permanently set.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Peace starts with a smile.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

I don't know why some people change churches; what difference does it make which one you stay home from?

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

A lot of church members who are singing "Standing on the Promises" are just sitting on the premises.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

We were called to be witnesses, not lawyers or judges.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Be ye fishers of men. You catch them - He'll clean them.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Coincidence is when God chooses to remain anonymous.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Don't put a question mark where God put a period.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Don't wait for 6 strong men to take you to church.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Forbidden fruits create many jams.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

God doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies the called.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

God grades on the cross, not the curve.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

God loves everyone, but probably prefers
"fruits of the spirit" over "religious nuts!"

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

God promises a safe landing, not a calm passage.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

He who angers you, controls you!

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

If God is your Co-pilot - swap seats!

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

Prayer:

Don't give God instructions -- just report for duty!

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

The task ahead of us is never a great as the Power behind us.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

The Will of God never takes you to where the Grace of God will not protect you.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

We don't change the message, the message changes us.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

You can tell how big a person
is by what it takes to..........discourage him.

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

The best mathematical equation I have ever seen:
1 cross + 3 nails= 4 given.

Windows Updating

I was all set to head back home from church after completing the tasks that needed to be done when the screen flashed the reminder not to turn the computer off while 6 updates get installed.

While waiting for the updates to finish I took these couple of photos using my Nokia phone cam.

I was pleasantly surprised at the result. Imagine if I had the Nokia N95 with the 5 megapixel camera?? :))) Hint, hint, hint :))

An Old Friend Passed Away

Celia Banasig (nee Lozarita)

Cel passed away last Thursday afternoon, November 16.

I have been blessed to have visited with Celia the last couple of weeks before she passed on.

You have left behind three wonderful, loving, and caring children. I witnessed how they lovingly, patiently, cared for and looked after you while you were still here. You are blessed.

You will be missed 'Cel'.

Lunch at Portovino's

This past Friday Sam and I went for a return engagement, lunch, at Portovino's. We both had their Salmon plate. It was "perty good". It was my turn to pay for lunch; cost for lunch for two- $60.00 CAD. Portovino's is highly recommended. You are welcome to bring your own bottle of wine.
