Workout at the church

For the last few months we've been running an exercise program at our church using the Walk Away The Pounds video series by Leslie Sansone.

I took these pictures yesterday using my handy phone cam. Either the phone cam is very slow or we're just moving too fast :-)

The exercise starts at around 7:00PM and ends after about an hour. The program we've been doing for a little bit is the 4 Mile Challenge. I find it to be a good cross training exercise to complement my bike rides. Right Uncle Pilo?! (who's also now hooked to this)

That's Wendy on your left there. We've had a family from (just a guess) India who lives in the neighborhood, just walking distance from the church, joined us last night.

That's Tita Nil wearing the green shirt and Mercy at the back.

There's Agnes Latouche showing off her exercise form.

Speedy Wendy- too fast for the phone cam :-)

Solo bike ride to the Old Port of Montreal from Lachine

With meetings almost every night of this week I took a few hours off from business to go for a much wanted bike ride. Unfortunately Uncle Pilo was too busy at work and could not sneak out.

It's been awhile since I've ran into a cruise ship at the Old Port this season. It was a pleasant surprise to see the Mona Lisa docked at the Old Port.

I'm also glad that I had my Nokia Phone Cam with me to take some pictures of the Mona Lisa

There was also, among these other pleasure crafts, a Catamaran, it's the one at the far end of the dock. I should have gone closer, but, but- never mind. :-)

Among the distinguished dignitaries from the various Filipino Associations in Quebec and Montreal, was the Honorable Philippines Ambassador Benedicto and Mrs. Benedicto as well as the newly appointed Consul-General and his wife.

Reception was at the Bella Vista Reception Hall in Newman Blvd, Lasalle.

Quotation from today's Our Daily Bread

A gem cannot be polished without friction, nor a man perfected without adversity.

God often brings about this change through the buffing of hardship and trials, for pressure has a way of loosening the dirt and grime of rebellion and selfishness. The Bible tells us that tribulation produces perseverance, character, hope, and confidence by the Holy Spirit (Romans 5:3-5).

traffic report

hello boys and girls,
just got back from the wedding and reception in manhattan.
going to manhattan, it took us an hour and a half to cover a 9 mile distance (through the holland tunnel - grabe ang traffic)
going back was faster, medyo naligaw lang ng konti - definitely could use that magellan roadmate gps navigation system of manny, high tech.
next time sagot ko naman ang breakfast, lunch or dinner (choose one of the above), puede din na mag steak tayo, doon sa peter luglog or was it peter luger :-)

Breakfast with Manny M, Jersey City, NJ USA

What can I say, I mean, how often do we have a breakfast like this at home?
Thanks Tito Manny, Don Bosco Manda HS 71 batchmate, for treating me to a delicious breakfast at one of Jersey City's Pinoy eatery, bakery pati.

Nakakainggit si Manny, makapal pa ang buhok. I really enjoyed the short time we spent together, kuwentohan, halong chismis :-)

wow, sinangag, spam, eggs, tuyo, longanisa

Cocktail reception at Club Quarters in Manhattan, New York, NY

Got together with members of the Santos, Capacio, and Wei (Mary's side) family at the Bull Run Restaurant and Conference Center (located in the Club Quarters), Wall St, Manhattan, NY

The drive to Manhattan, through the Holland Tunnel was an experience by itself. Lots of traffic last night. There's this UN Conference this weekend, President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo (of the Philippines) being one of the speakers.

As I am posting this, the kids, well, grown up children really, left for Manhattan, targeting to visit the Chinatown section (Canal St. and Mott St. section). Tita Nil and I decided to relax and take it easy here in the comfort of our suite. :-)

We will all be heading back to Manhattan later this afternoon for the wedding and wedding reception. Hopefully the traffic wouldn't be as bad as last night and parking will be easily available.

Today's Devotional- Fight the good fight of the Faith

BibleGateway.com Passage Lookup: 1 Timothy 6:6-19

But godliness with contentment is great gain.

Fight the good fight of the faith

1 Timothy 6:6-19 (New International Version)
New International Version (NIV)

Copyright © 1973, 1978, 1984 by International Bible Society
NIV at IBS International Bible Society NIV at Zondervan Zondervan

6But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. 8But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. 9People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. 10For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
Paul's Charge to Timothy
11But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. 12Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses. 13In the sight of God, who gives life to everything, and of Christ Jesus, who while testifying before Pontius Pilate made the good confession, I charge you 14to keep this command without spot or blame until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15which God will bring about in his own time—God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords, 16who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To him be honor and might forever. Amen.

17Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. 18Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. 19In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.

Lunch at Peter's Cape Cod

Peter, Yves' step father, is visiting from Lausanne, Switzerland. He recently retired from the Philip Morris corporation based in Switzerland.

We took Peter on a tour of St. Anne De Bellevue and the Lakeshore area in the West Island of Montreal. We also stopped for lunch at one of my favorite seafood place in the island of Montreal, Peter's Cape Cod (St. Anne De Bellevue).

Attended Claude and Margot's 25th anniversary party this weekend, Saturday. Chanty and step brother Ghislaine ( I hope I spelled the name right) organized the celebration. It turned out pretty good.

Chanty, BTW, for those who do not know, is my sister-in-law, married to my younger brother, Freddie.

Labor Day Weekend Ride

Too bad, the Manotick (Ottawa gang- Marvin, Lenny, Tim, and Aubrey) could not stay until today. It turned out to be a great day for a bike ride.

Tito Lits with Paul

Tito Lits and Paul, St. Anne De Bellevue, QC

Tito Lits and Uncle Pilo - somewhere in Pointe Claire, QC, near Lakeshore Blvd.

Got a wake up call from Uncle Pilo around 7:00 AM, yes, that early, on a long weekend Monday. I broke to him the news - the Manotick Gang have left the province, snuck out of Montreal early this morning, bikes and all.

We had an awesome threesome today - Paul, Pilo and Tito Lits. Destination: St. Anne De Bellevue. Route: one thing for sure, we did not take the not so bike friendly Senneville route, along the infamous crater dotted Gouin Blvd W. The road through there is not Mavic wheelset friendly :)

We took the Chemin St. Marie, cut across the Trans Canada to John Abbott College, on to St. Anne's.

Lots of people, lots of traffic, lots of frolickers on the boardwalk, lots of pleasure crafts lined up the side of the canal, their passengers exchanging pleasantries with the ordinary folks on foot.

I didn't bring my camera today. Photos courtesy of Pilo's Nokia Phonecam.

Overall, the ride was great, the company second to none, the weather magnificent. We had one flat earlier in the ride. Situation dealt with in under 5 minutes. Great job roadies.
