Just another evening bike ride

I wish that was the case.

Pilo and I met up somewhere along the Lachine Canal bike path, the section running paralell to St. Joseph Blvd.

The sky was clear, the temperature cool, and we were riding against a head wind, but, overall, it was pretty good for what we would consider another good day for a bike ride.

We set our course towards the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, the Grand Prix Circuit, right beside the Montreal Casino. It's become a staple ride for us lately.

We stopped along the way to snap a few pictures while at the same time catching a brief rest from the steady 30+ kph speed, even against the wind.

We went our separate ways when we got to the intersection of St. Patrick and Lasalle Blvd. We were both equipped with flashers, reflectors, and to light(not just to be seen) the way we had our Vistlite halogen headlight.

For the rest of my ride back to the car, I will quote from the email I sent my kiddies this morning.

"a roller blader plowed into me after i've tried some evasive action,
still, maybe she got confused, lost control, instead of heading back
to her lane, she drifted further into my lane and right on to me.

i must have flipped with the bike, it happened so fast, the next
instant i was getting off my back after i was laying on the grass or
bike path, not even sure now, my left leg cramping (it was cold last
night), the front wheel, the rim, was bent bent out of shape, finito.
first thing i did was make sure i could move, no broken bones, got rid
of the cramping on my left leg.

eventually both of us were able to get up and even walked to their car
parked nearby. they gave me a lift to my car which was parked a few
blocks away.

i still have pain on the left side of my upper body, probably the
point of impact when the lady crashed on to me, most likely bruising.
Lord willing it'll heal fast and the pain go away in a few days. my
tennis elbow is hurting.

i took out the old set of wheels, the ones that came originally with
the bike. I've replaced the front wheel which was bent out of shape, a
couple of spokes broken too.

with all that lighting (and they said too) it would have to be me the
they had this accident with :)

anyways, God was good, it could have been worst. i was able to get up,
walk, slept well last night.

if you would like to visit me i am at room 6-nnnnn pavillon st in pierrefonds :)

wab yous"

Thank God, it could have been worst.

Looking forward to our next bike ride, but, this time, beware of out of control bike riders, roller bladers, inline skaters, and wayward pedestrians. Posted by Picasa
