Do you Karaoke

A typical get together at Mom and Dad's

Do you karaoke? In most Filipino households this musical marvel is as staple as rice. Whenever there's a get together, special occasions or just hanging out with friends and loved ones, the event will not be complete without some display of singing prowess or lack of it.

In this photo my sister Rosie is belting out an Elvis Presley song; she loves, adores, Elvis. I can not help but notice Allen, showing signs of distress, unless he was just harmonizing with Rosie. But hey, the singer does not care, so long as she gets her turn on the microphone sing-a-long wonder.

Dad and Mom are just pleased to have their children as well their apos (grand children) around. Mom will even take special requests, for dishes and so is dad. Eager to please their regular, satisfied, loyal customers. Here are some of them.

This month of November, as most months, our family, Lord willing, will be celebrating at least four birthdays, including Mom's, who will be celebrating her 68th or 69th (will confirm shortly). As staple as rice is on our dinner table, so will be the Karaoke machine with Rosie in control of who sings first then who will be next :)

len: we Filipinos love to sing, don't we? I read it somewhere, I think it was from a book written about the Marcos Dynasty, how we are a fun loving people and how we love to sing. Quoting from an article on the internet "one of the more endearing aspects of Filipinos is their penchant for singing"

with or without a karaoke machine we will continue to sing :) and we sing because we're happy, and we're happy becasue we sing :) Amen!
